4. Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans
Spears has a bye in Week 7, so he's not an immediate replacement option for Montgomery this week for those who have that immediate need. But the rookie has encroached on Derrick Henry's workload most weeks, and his snap share nearly every week so far, looking like the better back much of the time.
In Week 6 against the Baltimore Ravens Spears has 63 yards on five touches, highlighted (and however inflated) by a 48-yard reception. He has at least 55 total yards in four of his last five games, while averaging 7.9 yards per touch over the last three.
Again, Spears is not a fantasy lineup option in Week 7 because he's on bye. But Montgomery seems sure to miss at least two games, so thinking beyond the coming week is surely on the radar if it comes to that. Spears is in line for more work than he's been getting coming out of his bye, since he's had double-digit touches just twice in six games thus far.
In a broad sense, though understandably so due to Henry's presence as the lead back that is not going away barring an injury or a trade, Spears remains vastly under-rostered in fantasy leagues. So there's an opportunity for Montgomery owners to check on his availability, and stash him for beyond Week 7 regardless of Montgomery's outlook.
