The Detroit Lions have a big game ahead against the Dallas Cowboys, and revenge is the only thing on the mind of some fans.

After the Lions lost under questionable circumstances in Dallas late last season, this year's game has been circled by fans since the schedule came out. To the players, though, it's simply another contest where they can prove themselves as one of the best teams in the league.

Running back David Montgomery joined "The Rich Eisen Show" this week and was asked how much last year's stinging defeat has motivated the Lions this week.

"We're just going to go out and play our game and prepare for this team as we prepare for any other team, Last year was last year. Whatever happened last year is in the past and we're just focus on now, so we're preparing for the Dallas Cowboys the best way that we can and we're excited to go put on a show."

While it might seem a boring outlook, there is no other answer. Revenge is something fans dream about outside the lines, but players are always going to be focused on winning their individual matchups and the upcoming game.

Jared Goff is not focused on avenging last year's loss to the Cowboys

As the quarterback, Jared Goff sets the tone for the Lions' locker room.

Like Montgomery, Goff believes this game against Dallas represents a chance for the Lions toget a significant win this season.

"Of course we want to beat them just like we want to beat every other team. They're a good team. They're an NFC opponent. They're a contending team, and a road win in their place means a whole lot. So we want to go in there and try to get a win. It's a different team and I think that we all know what happened there at the end. It was unfortunate the way it worked, but we'll be ready this week."

This year in Dallas, the Lions are interested in establishing how they are the better team and not leaving the game up to chance. Heading into a tough road environment, that's the right mindset.
