1. Jacksonville Jaguars CB Shaquill Griffin

Griffin only played five games for the Jaguars this season, before a season-ending back injury. In late-January, he told the Florida Times-Union he’s close to being fully cleared, so any concerns there are quelled barring something unforeseen.

Griffin also carries a $17.15 million cap hit this year, as the Jaguars currently sit $22 million over the cap. Cutting him would only come with a $4 million dead money hit (according to Over The Cap).

When he was mostly healthy in 2021, 14 games, Griffin was not across the board good. He had a decent 72.0 Pro Football Focus grade, but with zero interceptions, a 109.5 passer rating allowed and a completion rate allowed close to 70 percent.

Griffin was a Pro Bowler with the Seattle Seahawks in 2019. It’s safe to say the big contract Jacksonville gave him didn’t work, but if he was available he’d have some suitors.

Alex Kay of Bleacher Report has Griffin on his recent list of potential 2023 cap casualties who could be steals for other teams. He also named the Lions as a top potential fit for Griffin, and it makes a lot of sense.

The Lions should leave no stones unturned when it comes to reshaping their cornerback depth chart. If Griffin becomes available, he’s automatically on the radar in Detroit.
