3. LB Cole Holcomb

In a contract year with a cap hit just under $2.6 million, Holcomb seems like a prime trade candidate for the Commanders if they’re looking to sell in the coming weeks. He is also far and away the team’s leading tackler through six games this season (60), after leading the team in tackles last year with 142.

Holcomb is adequate as a coverage linebacker (95.7 passer rating allowed last year; 102.7 passer rating allowed so far this year according to Pro Football Reference), he’s generally a reliable tackler and he’s been nearly an every snap player for Washington over the last two seasons. The Lions could use a dose of all those things in their linebacking corps. It is worth noting that Alex Anzalone hasn’t been abysmal for the most part this season, and rookie Malcolm Rodriguez has shown he was indeed a draft find.

Holcomb may garner interest from several teams, but the Commanders surely can’t ask for the world in a trade. The Lions should at least have some minor interest here.
