4. QB Jared Goff

Speaking of Goff, he could probably make this list every week as a critical component to and a barometer for Detroit’s success. He is coming off a nice game in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders (20-for-34 for 256 yards, four touchdowns, 121.7 passer rating), but he also knows there were some misses that could bite the Lions’ offense moving forward.

This week against a Vikings’ defense that struggled in Week 2, and may be down safety Harrison Smith (concussion) on Sunday, Goff simply has to play a point guard role and distribute to a deep set of skill talent. Wherever there’s an opportunity to take–short, intermediate, deep, etc.–recognize it, then strike and execute without hesitation.

Goff has played mostly well in both games so far this season. But Week 3 is a ramp up in importance and intensity, against a division rival on the road with a chance for the Lions to be over .500 with a win. If he answers the bell and plays well, the stage will be set for the Lions to pull the upset on Sunday.
