4. Brett Hundley, Baltimore Ravens
Hundley is best-remembered as Aaron Rodgers’ backup in Green Bay for three seasons (2015-2017), notably including nine starts during the 2017 season when Rodgers was out. He has only thrown 11 regular season passes since then though, all in 2019 for the Arizona Cardinals.
Hundley has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks (2018) and Indianapolis Colts (2021) before landing with the Baltimore Ravens in May.
It’s unclear how many quarterbacks the Ravens will keep on their final 53, but with Lamar Jackson’s running style it would make some sense to keep three. The question is if Hundley would be that No. 3 guy, or if he’s let go (or maybe he asks to be let go).
Hundley’s numbers from his only meaningful stretch of play, going on five years ago now, weren’t great (nine touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 60.8 percent completions, 44.8 QBR, 70.6 passer rating). But he did have a slightly better stretch of play for six games (89.5 passer rating, seven touchdowns, four interceptions, 67.4 percent completion rate), before Rodgers returned to action for one game–only to be sidelined again when the Packers’ playoff hopes were gone.
Hundley might be easily regarded as no upgrade over Boyle/Blough. But the Lions should be keeping an eye out everywhere for potential backup options, and Hundley is one with some starting experience.
