Seventh Round

232. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DE. Dominique Robinson. Miami (OH). 50

Robinson is a converted wide receiver who was recruited to Miami of Ohio as a quarterback, and he had a breakthrough season as an edge rusher in his final year with 4.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss. He look like a 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL, at 254 pounds, but at 6-foot-5 with 33-inch arms (Senior Bowl measurements) his physical traits are intriguing with a ceiling he probably hasn’t reached.

Detroit needs to bolster their pass rush. After Thibodeaux, they double-up with a late-round edge prospect here.

LB. Utah. Nephi Sewell. player. 50. Pick Analysis. 240. Scouting Report

Sewell transferred to Utah from Nevada as a defensive back in 2019, moving capably to linebacker for the Utes in 2020. In 2021, he posted 89 total tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss in 12 games. He’ll likely be a seventh-round pick if he gets drafted, and the Lions need depth bodies at linebacker regardless of how free agency turns out.

Sewell also happens to be the brother of Lions offensive tackle Penei Sewell. But based on merit, and the potential to make an immediate impact at least as a core special teamer, Detroit takes him here to wrap up this mock.
