Lions 2022 NFL Draft: 5 wide receivers to watch in Week 12 college football
2. David Bell, Purdue
In last year’s shortened campaign (six games), Bell had 53 receptions for 625 yards and eight touchdowns as a worthy follow-up a Big Ten Freshman of the Year campaign in 2019 (86 catches for 1,035 yards, seven touchdowns). So far this season, in nine games played, he has 75 receptions for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns.
Bell has good size (6-foot-2, 205 pounds), with good playing speed, reliable hands and polished route-running ability. He looks like the kind of well-rounded receiver who can have instant success in the NFL, and maintain it for many years.

At least right now, I don’t love Bell as much as Daniel Kelly of SI.com, who has given him a first-round grade, does. I can’t get behind Kelly’s idea the Lions should trade up in the first round to make sure they get him. But with the pick they’ll have at the top of the second round, there’s definitely something to that.
How To Watch Bell: Sat. Nov. 20, at Northwestern (Wrigley Field), 12 p.m. ET, TV: Big Ten Network
1. Jalen Tolbert, South Alabama
Going a little deeper again here, to Tolbert. He is fourth in the country in receiving yards entering Week 12 weekend action (1,140) with 65 catches and six touchdowns. He has posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for the Jaguars out of the Sun Belt, and he has NFL-caliber size (6-foot-3). On Saturday, he gets a proving ground against an SEC opponent.
Tolbert would be a second or third-round draft target for the Lions.
How To Watch Tolbert: Sat. Nov. 20, at Tennessee, 7:30 p.m ET, TV: ESPNU
