Lions 2021 fantasy football outlook: Starters, avoids, sleepers
Bench Worthy: Jared Goff, Jamaal Williams, All Wide Receivers
Jared Goff
Goff might be a sneaky flier to take if you have the short end of the stick at the quarterback position. But, despite the doubt, there is a world where he comes into Detroit this season and plays well.
If the offensive line is as advertised and the run game is productive. We could see a version of Goff that rarely turns the ball over and puts up decent numbers. Where his consistency is enough to make him a solid starter for your fantasy team.
I’ve already expressed my doubts about this scenario earlier in the article. Although, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. One simple thing in the pursuit of winning your fantasy league is hitting on your fliers. Goff could be one of them.
Jamaal Williams
Running back Jamaal Williams is a simple choice to keep stashed on the bench. We’ve seen what he could do in Green Bay, and with the opportunity he had to start when counterpart Aaron Jones was out, he put up great fantasy numbers.
If D’Andre Swift misses games for any reason, Williams can help you win your fantasy league. This is another excellent strategy of bench building, taking backup running backs on teams with good offensive lines.
All Wide Receivers
Every year we see a few wide receivers breakout from nowhere. Usually, it’s on a team that doesn’t have any notable wide receivers on roster. I know a lot of fans worry about the Lions’ receiver situation. Still, I promise there is a strong probability that one of them will breakout.
If you find yourself weak at the wide receiver position during your draft, pick your favorite Lions’ receiver and keep him on the bench. Whether it’s Tyrell Willimas, Breshad Perriman, Quintez Cephus, or Amon Ra-St.Brown, just go with your hunch.
