What adding Odell Beckham means

Now for what truly matters, why Holmes should trade for Beckham from a football standpoint. The Lions are without a true No.1 option at wide receiver sporting Tyrell Williams and Breshad Perriman as the top options for Goff.

Although it’s very early into the offseason, through OTAs and minicamp neither Williams nor Perriman has really pulled themselves away from the pack, which could be cause for concern considering your top receiving options haven’t outperformed against one of the league’s worst secondaries.

Bringing in Beckham not only would automatically make him the top outside receiving option for this team but would also help in giving Goff the best shot at succeeding this season. Schematically the 2021 Lions offense could be similar to the Browns in a lot of ways. Both teams are looking to run the ball and win at the line of scrimmage to help set up play-action and open up the passing game.

Beckham would play a similar role in this Lions offense like the one in Cleveland, you can line him up all over the field creating mismatches at every level, something Lions head coach Dan Campbell says he wants to prioritize for this team.
