2. The draft is ripe with blue-chip talent at the top

At the top of the draft, there are three solid wide receiver options that have the potential to be selected in the top 10 picks. The Lions are in a prime position to grab one of the three and feel great about the talent they’ve added to their roster.

These three have been mocked to the Lions several times by several different types, so the question would be if Lions general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell prefer one over the others. They could select LSU’s Ja’marr Chace, Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle, or Alabama’s Devonta Smith.

All three of these guys have been getting rave reviews heading into the draft. After them, there is a relative drop in value at the position. If the Lions are going to draft a wide receiver and want one of the best available in this year’s draft, the team will be using the seventh pick to do it, plain and simple.

Or, they take a risk and hope a later-round selection pops like former receiver Kenny Golladay. As the saying goes, one in the hand is better than two in the bush. Take the talent.
