Trade Scenario #4

Analysis: This trade would have made a lot more sense if the previous regime of general manager Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia were still in charge. After all, their previous relationship with the Pats as former employees helped facilitate trades between the clubs in the past.

Head coach Bill Belichick has now had a taste of life without Tom Brady under center, finishing the season with a 7-9 record while his former quarterback is going back to the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Perhaps the greatest coach in NFL history is ready to find his next champion under center. And there’s no reason that can’t be Matthew Stafford. And there’s no reason to think Stafford wouldn’t welcome the opportunity to play for the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach.

Belichick also has a tendency to trade out of the first round of the draft. It seems feasible he’d be willing to part with ways with two first-rounder to acquire a franchise quarterback to become his next Brady. And it might be the biggest bounty the Lions can get for Stafford.
