It’s up to  Sheila to  find a dynamic head coach

So who will the Detroit Lions hire as their head coach? We are probably not that far away from finding out, but his ability to establish a winning culture and get the most out of players, while surrounding himself with quality assistants will be the biggest key to his success.

No one will get upset if whoever Sheila Ford Hamp hires is a genius. Innovative thinking is great and can create something special, but dynamic will do the job.

Of those candidates that have been interviewed, it’s hard to say who will bring that special trait to the table and find a way to make a winning team, but if I had to guess, I would say that the fan-favorite, Robert Saleh, has the ability to connect with his players, gain their respect and get them to play to their fullest potential.

Will Sheila reel him in or lose him to the New York Jets? We will find out soon enough.

However, there is a dark-horse who might have that same ability to create a winning culture, get his players to reach their ceiling, and find the right assistants to surround himself with.

He wouldn’t be my first choice, but the more I look at Dan Campbell, the more I see positives. Campbell played for Bill Parcells, had a stint as the interim head coach of the Dolphins creating a tough, hard-nosed persona for a team that was not all that talented leading them to a 5-7 record under his guidance and is currently the New Orleans Saints assistant head coach/tight ends coach.

More. Detroit Lions new regime will pay for this draft mistake. light

This why the Lions interview process needs to be the event it has become. Sheila, with the aid of her advisors, need to identify a candidate that can turn the attitude of a whole locker room around with the sheer force of his personality. Someone who can do all the little things that we don’t tend to think about to create a winning environment that translates to the field.

Geniuses are great, but if Sheila is determined to turn this franchise around, then the Lions’ next head coach had better at least be dynamic.
