1. Ed Dodds, Assistant general manager – Indianapolis Colts
This should be the unanimous number one choice for the Ford family. Dodds has helped general manager Chris Ballard reshape and construct a roster that has an identity.
Dodds was a key reason the Colts were able to take a terrible offensive line and make it one of the better ones in the league. Yes, that was to protect Andrew Luck, but now it is protecting Philip Rivers. It’s also why Jonathan Taylor can work comfortably in his rookie season.
Dodds also worked under the legend John Schneider. He spent 10 years with the Seahawks and won two Super Bowls during his time there.
Dodds would have a plan, a vision, if he was to be hired in Detroit. He would understand how to take what he has and build around it. He would be able to establish an offensive and defensive line.
I have Dodds has my number one because he has won championships as a key executive. He has been a part of the reason teams win rather than just being there.
Owner Sheila Ford Hamp has her work cut out for her, but the first step is to fire Bob Quinn. Then the Detroit Lions can start down a path of rebuilding what this current regime destroyed.
