Even after adding a few linebackers in free agency this offseason, the Detroit Lions would still do well to add an off-ball linebacker at some point in the 2020 NFL Draft.

It would be preferable if said linebacker could be an asset in coverage for a change and Detroit should be narrowing down on those types of off-ball linebackers.

One player that the Lions should be interested in is Wake Forests’, Justin Strnad. Strnad is a rangy linebacker that can cover from sideline to sideline and is continuing to develop his instincts, which show promise.

The Draft Network’s Kyle Crabbs explained why he believes Strnad could one day become a quality starting linebacker on an NFL team.

"“Strnad projects favorably as a next level linebacker thanks to his range and explosiveness …  showing more confidence in his reads and more trust in his eyes to break on action quickly … there’s plus skills to work in space as is”"

The Lions could be one of those teams that can use Strnad as a starter down the road. Strnad in the fifth round is a solid value for a potential starting linebacker that can cover in space and would be a pick well spent.
