Grabbing a guard in the earlier rounds would be ideal. With the loss of Graham Glasgow, it would seem silly to replace a Michigan man with another, but Cesar Ruiz is a stud.

Initially a center, he can play all three interior spots, something the Lions appreciate when it comes to those positions.

Ruiz didn’t allow a sack and surrendered eight total pressures in his final year at Michigan.

A trend we see when general manager Bob Quinn has selected offensive lineman in the past two drafts, players who don’t give up sacks.

Plays with a high football IQ, but could work on his strength. As one of the youngest players in the draft, at 20 years of age, Ruiz should be a starter in this league for a long time.

He would join right tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai as the newest additions to the offensive line.
