Running back

Running back has once again been an area where the Detroit Lions are employing a committee approach, not by choice. While Kerryon Johnson has been good when on the field, his missed games are piling up and fears from draft profiles are coming back to haunt the Lions brain trust.

Bo Scarborough has been a good temporary addition and rookie Ty Johnson has flashed his ability but there needs to be more to count on and some of that is on the offensive line; not all of it is blocking, though, and the Lions are one of only a few teams that haven’t sniffed a 1,000-yard rusher since 2013 when Reggie Bush accomplished the feat by six yards, thanks Pro Football Reference.

Name to know

Eno Benjamin, Running back, Arizona St., 5-09, 210, 4.50

The Sun Devil runner tallied his second season of more than 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns after 1,642 yards, 16 touchdowns and 1,083 yards with 12 touchdowns seasons. Benjamin is a powerful runner that has played 35 games while averaging 5.0 yards-per-carry as a collegiate runner, information from the ASU website.

He has projected as anywhere between a fourth-round player to a seventh-round player, if he is there for any of those rounds he could provide depth and inside running to an injury-plagued corps.
