Wide receiver

There really is no area that doesn’t have issues. At wide receiver, the Lions have five players under contract for next year but none after that. Kenny Golladay, who leads the NFL in touchdown receptions with eleven, will likely receive a big extension this offseason.

Marvin Jones, Jr., who had nine touchdown receptions (tied for fourth), may not get another deal given the other needs of the team and Golladay’s likely payday. Danny Amendola is a free agent as is Jermaine Kearse, who was injured before the season began. Amendola, 34, was a great outlet for Stafford and ranked 44th among wideouts, one slot ahead of former Lions receiver, Golden Tate.

Name to Know

Devin Duvernay, Wide receiver, Texas, 5-11, 210, 4.43

The Longhorns deep threat is a big play waiting to happen. Duvernay looks like a sprinter but is definitely a football player, collecting 106 receptions, 1,386 yards receiving, and nine TD’s as a senior, according to the university website. The Detroit Lions need to find depth and playmakers to open things up for tight end T.J. Hockenson and receiver Kenny Golladay. We might be able to select him in round four and grab a dynamic slot-outside player to replace Marvin Jones after next year.
