Offensive line

The needs on offense seem like they should be fewer but the contract situations of many players make the list of needs there extensive.

Along the offensive line Graham Glasgow, Kenny Wiggins, Oday Aboushi, and Taylor Decker, who has a fifth-year option for next year, are all potential casualties; it would be odd to see Bob Quinn not pick up Decker’s option year, though, considering the number of holes that would have to be plugged.

Throw in that right tackle, Rick Wagner has been underperforming his $11.9 million-dollar salary and that second-year tackle Tyrell Crosby looked better in limited duty, and you have a full-blown mess on the line expected to keep quarterback Matthew Stafford upright. There is a potential out in Wagner’s contract that would leave $5.8 million in dead salary cap money if they cut ties this year.

Name to know

Josh Jones, Offensive tackle, Houston, 6-5, 310, 5.25

Former Cougar Josh Jones is considered to be a raw prospect in his technique but has the physical upside to compete for a starting job in the future. The Detroit Lions have some time to develop a tackle and athleticism is something needed in their blocking. Also, Jones would be a third-round kind of player, not a huge cost for a big, athletic tackle.
