2020 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions full seven-round mock 1.0
The Detroit Lions’ defensive line struggled in 2019. But it wasn’t due to a lack of talent. On paper, the Lions had one of the best D-lines in the NFL. Names like Trey Flowers, Damon Harrison, and Mike Daniels highlighted this quality lineup.
Throw in defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand who was coming off a breakout rookie season. And the Lions also selected Clemson defensive end Austin Bryant with their fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft for good measure.
Unfortunately, injuries destroyed this unit in 2019 with several of the above names missing a significant portion of the season. Although most are expected to return healthy in 2020, Daniels, A’Shawn Robinson, and Darius Kilgo are all scheduled to become free agents this offseason, leaving a possible need for depth at the defensive tackle position.
The Lions find some help here in the sixth round in Nebraska’s Carlos Davis. The 6-foot-2, 320-pound defensive tackle recorded 32 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three pass deflections, a forced fumble and recovery for the Cornhuskers in 2019.
