Jim Harbaugh, Head Coach – Michigan

This will be the obvious elephant in the room … if the room was say the size of the state of Michigan. The connection is clear. Jim Harbaugh was an exciting name when he became the head coach at the University of Michigan back in 2015.

After all, Harbaugh was wildly successful during his short stint with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014. Those Niners’ team finished 13-3, 11-4-1, 12-4, and 8-8 during his tenure. Harbaugh led San Francisco to three playoff berths, three-straight conference championship games, and a Super Bowl appearance in 2012.

Harbaugh recently shot down rumors that he might be interested in a return to the NFL. But things at Michigan haven’t gone all that well with the Wolverines losing two of their three bowl games during his five-year stint. Michigan is currently 7-2 in the standings with some tough opponents ahead.

If the Lions’ job becomes available, and if Harbaugh would prefer to stay in the area, then that might be enough to lure the 55-year old former NFL quarterback back to coaching in the big leagues.
