8.) Jon Kitna

Jon Kitna only spent three years in Detroit, all of which saw the Lions at or near the bottom of the division, but Kitna was a fiery competitor who was tough and had plenty of heart.

In his previous NFL stops Kitna displayed an ability to help contribute to his team’s victories. He wasn’t the greatest athlete, but he was a competitor who was willing to do whatever it took to win.

Kitna played on some Lions teams that were poor even by Detroit’s standards, but for two years he stood in the pocket and took all kinds of abuse while not missing a start before he was knocked out for the season in the fourth game of 2008, which was his third and final year in Detroit.

While the Lions only won 10 of the 36 games Kitna started, his presence did make some bad teams better. He was the Lions undisputed leader in his time here and under better circumstances with more talent around him, he might have left more of a legacy behind.
