#5 – Robert Porcher, Defensive End

Robert Porcher was a beast on the Lions defensive line from 1992-2003. He played defensive end and defensive tackle throughout his NFL career. Detroit was the only team to enjoy his services.

With 158 starts out of 187 career games, Porcher was feared league-wide. The big man totaled 600 tackles for his career. 429 of which were solo tackles and 56 of them were tackles for a loss. He had 18 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries, one of them recoveries went for a touchdown.

He also had an amazing 95.5 sacks throughout his lustrous career in Detroit. Porcher defended 19 passes and even picked one of them off. Oh boy,  was he a dominant man that had to be accounted for at all times. Too bad it did opponents little good to account for the man, as he just couldn’t be stopped anyway.

dark. Next. The Detroit Lions All-Time Defensive Team

The Detroit Lions have plenty more legends to mention, but these are the five I wanted to talk about today. I don’t feel that these guys get the recognition that is deserved when talking Lions’ legends or legends of the sport for that matter. What are your thoughts on this list? Is there anyone that you would like to add? Maybe a player that you feel is overlooked all too often as well? Let me know in the comments section below!
