Practices with the Texans

The Detroit Lions have been engaged in joint practices with the Houston Texans this week in preparation for their second preseason game. After several days off from throwing, quarterback Matthew Stafford resumed running the offense while people wonder if we will see Stafford in any live action this weekend. There has been no definitive answer, so far.

The marquee matchup during the week has been Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins versus Lions cornerback Darius Slay, who have both enjoyed the challenge the other is as a top player at his position. The lovefest between the two has been all over social media.

Matthew Stafford has garnered positive feedback from Houston Texans beat writer John Harris who doesn’t normally see his cannon up close, as well. Here’s what Harris wrote on HoustonTexans.com

"“I’ll say this about Stafford, man, can he throw it… wow! Not only does he have an incredibly strong arm, he has a quick release.”"

Tracy Walker has looked like he is settling in at safety and primed for a very productive year; he had a pick of a Texans starter, Deshaun Watson, and another the previous day.
