With the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select…

Surprise! Even with all the stuff flying around that the pick here is going to be quarterback Kyler Murray from Oklahoma, I don’t buy it. Why waste the number one overall pick on a position that you don’t need? Quarterback Josh Rosen is only one year removed from being a top draft pick.

The Arizona Cardinals need to use this pick on the best player that can help their team the most, and here, that is Quinnen Williams. Williams is the best player in this draft, ahead of even Nick Bosa. Not only is Williams the better overall player, but he fits the needs of the Cardinals better than Bosa does as well.

Williams causes major disruptions in the middle of the field and can beat double teams on a regular basis. No team in college could ever completely shut him out of a game. He can do everything at extremely high levels and brings both plus run defense and plus pass rushing skills to the table.

Considering all that, Williams is really the only pick that makes enough sense for them to pull the trigger on at one overall. I could see them trying to trade back, but I couldn’t find a partner for them here. So the Cardinals will have to be content with grabbing a star and all-pro type player with their first pick.
