Brenden Armour’s Contributor Mock Draft

Round 1 (8): T.J. HOCKENSON, TE – IOWA
Round 2 (43): A.J. BROWN, WR –  OLE MISS
Round 3 (88): AMANI ORUWARIYE, CB – PENN STATE
Round 4 (111): DRU SAMIA, G – OKLAHOMA
Round 5 (146): GREG GAINES, DL – WASHINGTON
Round 6 (184): MALIK CARNEY, EDGE – NORTH CAROLINA
Round 6 (204): BRETT RYPIEN, QB – BOISE STATE
Round 7 (224): EMEKE EGBULE, LB – HOUSTON
Round 7 (229): UGOCHUKWU AMADI, S – OREGON

Brenden’s Quick Take: The Detroit Lions walk away as possibly the biggest winners of the draft as they snagged potential day one starters in each of the first four rounds. They were also able to get some quality depth and rotation pieces for the defense on day three and got one of the top developmental quarterback prospects to be a quality backup for starting quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Site Expert’s Take: This mock goes a bit against the grain as three of the Lions’ top four selections are on the offensive side of the ball. Of course, the selection of a tight end in the first round could make fans riot the streets. Although many seem to believe Hockenson will be the exception. And Brown in the second round could be a star in Detroit as the new YAC King.
