Round Four, Pick 26- Jalen Jelks, Defensive End, Oregon

Jelks is a good all around player. I think the Lions will be interested in him because of his prowess in run defense.

The Draft Network’s Ben Solak writes that:

"“Marriage of quickness and length make him a fiend in the running game. Penetrates zone flow easily with initial explosiveness and fluid hips; able to make ridiculous tackles with massive radius.”"

Solak also writes that Jelks has good power in his lower body that he can use to bull rush opposing lineman. He is also described as “wicked quick” in his get off and is known to disrupt plays early on.

Because he is so good in the run I believe the Lions will be very interested in adding him to their defensive end rotation. He would provide a hard working player that wouldn’t give up on a play until the whistle has blown. If the Lions grab him it would be a great add for a critically weak position.

Others Considered: Elijah Holyfeild RB UGA, Te’von Coney LB Notre Dame, Michael Jackson CB Miami, Darnell Savage S Maryland

Round Five, Pick Eight- Karan Higdon, Running Back, Michigan

If the Leos walk out of the draft with Higdon I imagine a lot of Lions fans in Michigan would be happy with the home town selection. I would be too. He would offer a lot of promise for the Lions backfield.

Higdon may not look like the prototypical power back, but he knows how to run hard and deliver a crushing blow to a defender in his way. Adding him to the backfield would give the Lions a great option to go to when Kerryon Johnson needs rest or gets injured.

Others considered: Gardner Minshew QB WASH ST, DeMarcus Christmas DT FSU, Drue Tranquil LB ND, Lukas Denis S BC
