Joe Haden, CB – Pittsburgh Steelers

Another Steelers player that the Lions could trade for is cornerback Joe Haden. Haden had a solid year, getting a 70.9 PFF grade. Haden played in 15 games, accounting for two interceptions, 12 passes defended, one forced fumble, and 63 total tackles.

Some cornerbacks that saw time for the Lions this year at outside corner include Darius Slay, Nevin Lawson, and DaShawn Shead. Those corners got grades from PFF of 75, 60.6, and 52.3, respectively. Haden would immediately slot in as the number two corner across from Slay.

The Lions would only get one year out at $10 million of Haden before he became a free agent, but he would allow whatever rookie the Lions draft to sit and develop some instead of being rushed onto the field. Haden could also serve as the rookie’s mentor for that year.

Because Haden only has one more year left on his deal at the price of $10 million and is about to be 30-years old it shouldn’t cost the Lions too much to acquire him from the Steelers. A sixth, or at most a fifth, round pick should be enough to get Haden from the Steelers and into a Honolulu blue uniform.
