Detroit Lions Round 6

Steve Montez, QB, Colorado, 6-4, 235, 4.79

Montez is a 2020 prospect who could declare for the draft during this down year for the quarterback position. The redshirt junior has started 33 games in the PAC 12 and put up 6,902 yards with 46 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. His career completion percentage is over 62% and he helped his team to win fifteen of his 33 games.

The PAC 12 is still Power-5 competition and his stats are decent even if he didn’t win a lot. Montez is ranked third among 2020 quarterback prospects by NFL Draft Scout. If he declares for the draft he has the size NFL teams like, whereas many players do not possess the prototype size among the class.

Gardner Minshew, QB, Washington St., 6-1, 220, 5.08

Minshew transferred to Washington State after two seasons at East Carolina. His senior year stats are quite eye-popping, 4,477 yards, 36 scores, 9 picks, and a 70.6% completion rate.

Minshew isn’t a big prospect and hasn’t played at a high level for long. He is a prospect that ranks tenth among 2019 quarterbacks, which is a borderline undrafted free agent depending on who declares for the draft and the evaluation process. His production in the PAC 12 is enough to discuss his pro prospects.
