Detroit Lions: 30 greatest players in franchise history
Coming over to the Lions during the free agency period of 2013, Glover Quin has now spent more than half of his career in the NFL wearing Honolulu blue and silver. The pride of the University of New Mexico Lobos has always been a consummate professional and student of the game whose pregame preparation often allows him to be one step ahead of opposing quarterbacks on the field of play.
Quin possesses a current NFL iron man streak for his position with 137 consecutive starts and counting. He is also well known across the league for his ball-hawking tendencies, which allowed him to lead the NFL in interceptions in 2014, as he compiled seven that season.
Over time, Quin’s influence has also bled over to teammate Darius Slay. The duo has helped to give Detroit a formidable set of defenders in its secondary.
Quin has also proven himself to be as savvy off the field as he is on it. Last year, he continued to make a name for himself off the field as he pledged $5,000 per interception and $100 per tackle to go towards Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in his native Houston. Quin finished the 2017 season with three interceptions and 60 tackles as he raised over $21,000 in order to aid the victims of the storm.
He is a pillar of strength both for his community and for his football team. Even as he’s a decade into his career already, the future is still bright for this veteran.
