Commentary

There are lots of things we could do with the seventh round pick. There are quite a few needs we didn’t address. I think the speed of the secondary is an issue, and the last two picks are solid, smart players who possess speed.

Joseph is a 6-1, 187 pound, small school prospect out of Dubuque. He is a capable cover guy with size and upside and can possibly develop behind Darius Slay. The corner-safety runs just under a 4.5 and has good length. If that didn’t work out, he might become a free safety.

The Lions could go in a lot of directions, receiver, another offensive lineman, a defensive tackle, linebacker, etc.; too many needs, not enough picks. I always found myself liking the same pool of players with the last pick.

Each has ability to possible make an impact down the road at a position of need. I just didn’t love that many prospects as flyers.

My Pick: Michael Joseph, cornerback. Joseph could also get re-purposed as a free safety.
