Detroit Lions, Pick #20

The Lions have just about any kind of option that they want, including UTSA defensive end, Marcus Davenport, who I had them choosing last time. He could definitely be gone by twenty, but there’s no sure place. Davenport’s talent has him being mocked just outside the top ten on some sites.

I just want to point out the plethora of options here. Defensive tackles, Taven Bryan, Mo Hurst, and edge players like Harold Landry are all sitting there.

Additionally, guards, Isaiah Wynn, Will Hernandez, and tackle, Mike McGlinchey are there, too. Only one running back has been selected, leaving Derrius Guice, or anyone not named Saquon, left to select. There’s even talk of possibly taking a tight end, like Mark Andrews.

I guess what I’m saying, is that if Bob Quinn has an opportunity to trade down for more picks, this would be a good spot. He has indicated his willingness to do so. Davenport would be a solid pick, and address a big need. Listening to head coach, Matt Patricia, though, he seems confident that pressure can be generated by scheme and the talent currently on the roster.

The Lions just don’t seem to have the big, glaring need at this point. They need a running back, some help along the defensive front, perhaps a linebacker, and a guard. The need for a better swing tackle was apparent last year, too. The tight end position keeps getting mentioned as still being a need. The cornerbacks, outside of Darius Slay, lack speed. There are depth concerns nearly everywhere.
