Detroit Lions, NFC North Position Rankings: Running Backs
By Jack Ozark
2. Chicago Bears
The Bears actually have the best running back in the division at the moment with Jordan Howard. But they do not possess the best depth at the position.
Howard was supposed to be the backup to Jeremy Langford but ended up taking over and being the only bright spot offensively for the Bears last year.
This season it will be interesting to see how Howard adapts to year two, where he will most likely be a focus for defenses. Having a full season of tape on him will also help other teams, as any flaws he showed will be exploited. Howard could have another great season, but just as easily could suffer a sophomore slump much like his backup did.
Langford is the main man to spell Howard. However, the Bears would rather he didn’t need to come in often. Langford had a solid rookie year, but last season he stumbled hard allowing Howard to take over.
I don’t think the Bears are extremely confident in Langford, which led to them selecting Tarik Cohen out of North Carolina A&T in the fourth round. His little frame and quickness could be a great third-down/change of pace back for the Bears backfield.
There is just too much chance for them to take the number one spot.
