Safety

Glover Quin and Don Carey are the only safeties under contract next year. The Lions have to add a pair at the position and while it may be easier to bring back Isa Abdul-Quddus, the Lions won’t be doing so with the intention of starting him. The Lions need a box safety that can cover. This year’s free agent safeties include Eric Berry, Eric Weddle, George Iloka, Reggie Nelson, Husain Abdullah and Duke Ihenacho. It’s hard to imagine Berry leaving Kansas City, but I would expect to see one of the other names listed suiting up for Detroit next year.
