Make the hard cuts

Cut season has begun around the NFL. While the Lions have yet to make any moves on their roster, you can believe that they are coming sooner rather than later. There are going to be a few cuts that are necessary but will be hard to make. When I say hard I mean emotional or difficult for some of the fan base to take. The one name that jumps out early is Joique Bell.

Bell is a local product which makes it all the harder to say goodbye. At this point Joique has shown that he’s on the down side of his career and his injuries are just a little harder to get over than they used to be. Joique also has one of the most expendable contracts on the team. It may not seem like too much, but the Lions can gain an additional $3.5 million by cutting Bell and they would only have to pay out $1 million in dead money. There’s a good chance that the Lions believe that Zack Zenner can give the Lions similar play to what Bell gave over the years. So there’s a high chance this move goes down.

Other’s would include Brandon Pettigrew, Possibly Stephen Tulloch, Corey Fuller and Rashean Mathis.
