The NFL Draft should actually be fun for Lions fans this year. The unknown seems to be a lot better than knowing Martin Mayhew is calling the shots. The Lions scouting department will be working with the front office like never before and no longer will a player like Titus Young or Ike Alama-Francis be forced on the coaching staff. At least that’s what we hope.

With the Lions having 10 draft picks this year, it opens the door for a lot of great possibilities. One possibility that keeps running through my mind is the scenario that has the Lions taking some of those picks and trading back into the first round. Imagine if the Lions could fill two important needs with first round talent. It’s possible that they could grab their offensive lineman and then grab a defensive tackle or possibly a stud receiver if there’s one sitting there.

The thing that makes me wonder though is that the Patriots are known to trade down rather than up in the draft. Is that something that Bob Quinn and his gang of Patriots offshoots will bring to the table with them?
