Could it be Prince Amukamara? Maybe. As I mentioned earlier in the article, the Lions look to be active during free agency this March. At this point the Lions have just over $20 mil to play with. Calvin Johnson’s impending retirement will add an extra $11.1 mil to that sum. Add in cuts and the rise of the cap an expected $10 mil and the Lions have a lot more money than they’ve had in ages.

With that money I expect the Lions to net a big time free agent that nobody will see coming. If you’re thinking Von Miller or Alshon Jeffrey, just stop doing that. It’s not happening. Names that should be on your mind are the aforementioned Amukamara, Russel Okung, Eric Weddle, Brandon Mebane, Terrance Knighton and of course Haloti Ngata. The last one is expected to stay with Detroit, but I don’t count that as the only big signing.

The Lions will spend nicely and wisely in free agency. But…..

Next: They won't sign a receiver
