Detroit Lions Draft: A Quarterback for Every Round
By Jeff Risdon
Sixth Round: Jeff Driskel
Hey, isn’t Jeff Driskel the guy who bombed at Florida? Why in the wide world of sports would the Lions consider drafting a guy who couldn’t throw more touchdowns than interceptions or complete more than 54 percent of his throws for the Gators in 2014?

That guy, a former top recruit, took his talents to Louisiana Tech and reemerged as a viable NFL prospect. In fact, he played well enough to earn a Senior Bowl invite.
He’s always played with a derring-do, and at Florida it often blew up in his face. A strong runner and good thrower on the move, his strong arm and improved ball placement led him to thrive with the Bulldogs.
Driskel, an Academic all-conference performer, has finally started to develop with better coaching and improved confidence. The Lions could really have something if they can build upon what Sonny Dykes and the Louisiana Tech coaching staff started this year. In the sixth round, he’s a low risk/high reward proposition.
