Compared to his past seasons, Pot Roast has been a little dry and overcooked in 2015. Over the summer Knighton was considered to be a sought after option for any team looking for some elite talent in the interior of their defensive line. Interesting enough, Knighton wound up signing a one year deal with the Redskins.
There’s two reasons a player would do such a thing in the NFL. One is that they bet on themselves to have a mega season and test the market the following season for a larger contract. The other is that they bet on themselves too hard and asked for too much money and got slighted. I’m guessing it was a little bit of both for the big man.
While Knighton hasn’t done his best work in 2015, he’s still going to be a well touted player once free agency opens up. With the belief that both Haloti Ngata and Tyrunn Walker will be gone, The Lions could score big here on a medium level, two to three-year deal.
What I have for you next will make you think I’m crazy.
