The Lions may decide to move on from James Ihedigbo. While Ihedigbo makes great plays and creates turnovers, he is a liability at times. Couple with that his “holdout” last season and you have a recipe for a bad contract waiting to happen.
Although Conte is not a superstar, he is an above average strong safety who is only 26 years old. By comparison Ihedigbo will turn 32 this season. Conte’s best season came in 2013 when he had 90 tackles, 7 pass deflections, 3 interceptions and a forced fumble. He is also versatile and capable of playing both safety positions.
