What are your thoughts after week one of the pre-season?

Payton, SLR: I saw just about everything that I hoped to see in week one. Granted it is hard to judge a team based off one week of pre-season football, I wanted to see what the Lions offense would look like in year two of Joe Lombardi’s scheme and they did not disappoint. Jumping out to an early lead in under three minutes, the first team offense looked sharp.

The defense also showed what they can do with out Ndamukong Suh by rotating their defensive line and blitzing more frequently. Once again it’s hard to judge so early, but the Lions have surpassed many expectations right out of the gate. Still must translate it into the regular season.”

Roelisberger, LA: “Other than a few routine lapses in the Packers first preseason game against New England the team seems to be on route to being one of the better teams in the entire league this season. With 11 starters returning on offense the team has been experimenting throughout training camp to find different things for an edge in the regular season. The offense and defense both look pretty solid with no major holes jumping out as of right now and every rookie played pretty solid as well and should be able to provide solid depth now and elite play in a couple years with experience.

Aaron Rodgers played three series on Thursday night in order to get his timing down and to get adjusted to new associate head coach Tom Clements calling plays now as Mike McCarthy gave up the role after last season. So other than a few personnel changes this is a team that will look very similar to last year.”

Schmelzer, BGO: “I’m never going to put much stock into one preseason game, especially the first one. It was nice to see the Bears play well, but the defense is still a mess, and it’s not like the offense is elite. “

Zinski, TVA: I think the defense is coming along well. The D-line has looked very solid. The offensive line is a concern especially with Loadholt’s injury. It’s hard to say overall how the offense will look since we haven’t gotten to see Adrian Peterson in there.”
