What he did well last year

Pettigrew blocked quite well in 2014. Other than that, last season was somewhat of an embarrassing season for Pettigrew. I really can’t say too many good things about 10 receptions for 70 yards and a disciplinary benching.

What he must do in 2015

Pettigrew must break this slump that he’s been in since 2012. If he can continue to be a great blocker and reemerge as an offensive weapon, then Pettigrew can secure his future in Detroit. After going untouched in free agency, the Lions seemingly did him a favor by signing him to a new contract. It;s time to pay the Lions back with some solid play.

2015 Projections

None. I’m in the minority here when I say that at the moment, I don’t believe Brandon Pettigrew will play for the Detroit Lions in 2015. Why should he? Pettigrew has been on an amazing downward spiral that saw him go from one of the leagues up and coming tight ends, to a he still plays for the Lions? type of guy.

There have already been trade rumors that link Pettigrew to Baltimore. The Lions could try their hand at free agents like Jermaine Gresham or Zach Miller. If it’s blocking the Lions are interested in, they could move Michael Williams back to tight end. I would love to be proven wrong by Brandon Pettigrew in 2015, but at the moment, I just can’t see it.

What do you think? Who will step up for the Lions at tight end this season? Will Brandon Pettigrew make the final 53 man roster? Leave your comments below and be sure to follow us on Twitter @SideLionReport and @Lionmike26 for all your Lions news and original content.
