No. 42- Isa Abdul-Quddus

Age: 25

Weight: 200

Height: 6-foot-1

College: Fordham

Isa Abdul-Quddus is strong, fast and intelligent.

Abdul-Quddus joined the Lions a year ago after being claimed off waivers. He actually ended up making four starts for the Lions in 2014, and he did quite well in place of James Ihedigbo at the start of the season. Keeping that kind of depth around was a no-brainer for the Lions as they re-signed him durning the offseason as previously mentioned. Abdul-Quddus is also a big contributor on special teams.

"“Great, great special-teams player for us,” Glover Quin said. “In the games where Dig (Ihedigbo) was injured, Isa came in and played well (at safety). He’s a smaller guy (6-foot-1, 200 pounds compared to Ihedigbo at 6-2, 217), but he tackles really well. “He (Abdul-Quddus) can play the strong safety, he can play the free safety. He can do a lot of things for us. He gives us a lot of flexibility. He proved last year that if he’s thrown into action, he can hold his own. He prepared well. He performed well when he had his opportunities. It paid off for him. “I know what he’s going to give us on special teams, and he’s going to give us what he’s got on defense.”"

Quddus will be on the field for the Detroit Lions in 2015, whether it be on special teams, in a rotational role, or if the injury bug bites. When he is given a chance, look for him to make the most of it. He flashed his potential periodically in 2014, and should come one step closer to maximizing it in 2015.

**Don Carey is also likely to make this team, largely do to familiarity.
