3. Cornerbacks

In a strange turn of events, the Detroit Lions may just end up with a considerable amount of depth at the cornerback position in 2015.

Returning from injuries sustained last season are defensive back, Nevin Lawson and nickel corner Bill Bentley.

New to the team is former Texas Longhorn Quandre Diggs. Diggs may have been a fifth round pick, but don’t doubt the kid for one second. He makes up for his lack of size and speed with unbelievable heart and determination. Watch for him and Bentley to battle it out for the nickel spot along with the newly signed Josh Wilson.

Also new to the team is rookie Alex Carter from Stanford. Carter is a lock to make the team even if he doesn’t play much as a rookie, and is also expected to play with — and learn from 35-year-old Rashean Mathis.

Keep a close on Diggs and Carter. If they play well early on, don’t be surprised to see them work their way into the Detroit Lions starting lineup sooner rather than later.

**While not a cornerback, Detroit Lions safety James Ihedigbo is expected to continue to sit out all team activities as part of his attempt to re-work his contract in 2015. Stay logged into SideLion Report for further updates on this situation.
