The tight end position has a lot of uncertainty around it as the 2015 NFL fantasy football season approaches. At No. 1 on my early board in still Rob Gronkowski, even with the Tom Brady four-game suspension on the horizon.
Then at numbers two through four, I have the usual suspects of Julius Thomas, Jimmy Graham, and Greg Olsen — even though two of the three are now in less-than-stellar situations according to most. After that though is when things get interesting.
At No. 5, I have Baltimore Ravens rookie Maxx Williams.
Williams finds himself in what could be considered a perfect situation for himself as he begins his career. With Dennis Pitta‘s future in doubt, it’s likely that Williams will be the starter in Baltimore this season. Williams possesses tremendous straight-line speed and has the ability to beat linebackers and safeties down the middle of the field.
He also has a guy named Joe Flacco throwing him the ball and a very smart man in Marc Tressman drawing up plays for his offense. During Trestman’s two years in Chicago, Bears tight end Martellus Bennett hauled in 155 passes on 225 targets, making Bennett one of the league’s top fantasy options at the tight end position.
