2. Cornerback

Outside of Darius Slay and Rashean Mathis, the Lions lacked quality depth on the back end in 2014 considering both Bill Bentley and Nevin Lawson went down with injuries before the season. Will both recover well and be ready to go by the fall? That is an unknown variable, which might mean a veteran cornerback could make sense for contribution’s sake. Mathis reportedly wants to return and played at a high level last season, but Detroit would be wise to see if anyone comes available who has a bit more milage left on the tires, too. Cassius Vaughn, who played at an inconsistent level, is also a free agent.

Names To Remember: Brandon Flowers (San Diego), Mike Jenkins (Tampa Bay), Antonio Cromartie, (Arizona), Alan Ball (Jacksonville), Jarrett Bush (Green Bay), Terrance Newman (Cincinnati).
