After signing a contract extension with the Lions earlier this year, it’s really hard to leave Don Carey off of this team, but he just hasn’t done enough lately to show why he still belongs on this team. Youngsters like Abdul-Quddus and Couplin have more than made a name for themselves, and they’ve even started to earn reps with the second-team defense to prepare for their upcoming game against the Jaguars.
DeJon Gomes landed a nasty hit last Friday and has been sidelined with a neck injury, but I don’t believe his roster spot is in question as a result, because he’s been arguably the best player on special teams throughout camp.
