Round 4

Pick 11 Selection: OG Brandon Thomas – Clemson

Other candidate:  OG Cyril Richardson This is a luxury pick that the Lions can afford to take thanks to their two fourth round compensatory picks. Thomas was a borderline first round pick before his injury. The Lions can redshirt him in 2014 and allow him to replace Rob Sims after this season. I’ve now built up my offensive line for the future with a 3rd and 4th round pick.

Pick 33 Selection (Compensatory): WR Kevin Norwood – Alabama

Other candidate: WR Jared Abbrederis Norwood is my fourth round version of Jarvis Landry. He may not be elite at any one thing, but he’s a terrific football player. Similar to the Kyle Van Noy pick, he can come in and be a solid contributor right out of the gate.

Pick 36 Selection (Compensatory): CB Walt Aikens – Liberty

Other candidate: CB Jaylen Watkins – Florida

I (finally) take a little risk late in the fourth round. If you don’t know Aikens’ story it’s worth looking up. After originally being recruited by Illinois, Clemson, and Louisville he found himself in legal trouble and kicked off of the Fighting Illini squad. He has coveted size (6′ 1″/205 lbs) which may get him selected a round earlier, but in this hypothetical game I’m betting he’ll be here. His playmaking ability stands out, seven career interceptions and six forced fumbles.
