Lions Rushing Offense vs. Eagles Rush Defense
Detroit, ranked 16th in the NFL in rushing (115.2 ypg), has relied heavily on both Reggie Bush and Joique Bell. Bush has averaged 77 yards per game and found the endzone 3 times, but has struggled with ball security at times. Joique Bell has been great in short-yardage situations as well as pass blocking. Matthew Stafford is not a willing runner, but has shown an ability to get up the field when flushed from the pocket.
The Eagles defense runs a 3-4 defense, which means Detroit’s offensive linemen will need to do a good job of getting to the second level if the Lions rushing attack is going to be successful. Philly has been average against the run, currently ranked 19th in yards allowed per game. Philadelphia ranks in the top ten in both turnover differential and takeaways this season. Detroit will need to hold on to the football to have a chance to win this one. Advantage – Philadelphia
