5. STAFFORD RISES FROM THE DEAD
In a flash of brilliance that hopefully will be the first of many, Matt Stafford fights off the doctors and medical crew to charge back onto the field and throw a winning touchdown pass with NO time left on the clock. This one play is why some of us think we might finally have someone to replace Bobby Layne in our hearts.

4. Matt Millen IS FIRED
The day that Millen was fired, church bells rang and people danced in the streets. Ding -Dong. the witch was dead! The most miserable 8 years of any franchise in ANY sport in recent memory– prove me wrong–came to an end. Everybody wearing the Honolulu blue and silver shed tears of joy over the news that the darkness had finally been lifted.

3. BARRY OUT-DUELS EMMITT
It was 1994, and all of the football so-called experts were arguing who was the best running back in the game. On a Monday night game in Dallas, Barry ran like his pants were on fire. Barry, 194 yards, out gained Emmitt, 143 yards, in a overtime win. It was one his best performance ever. Funny, you don’t hear anyone defending Emmitt anymore.

2. BARRY GETS 2000
Is it any wonder that Barry Sanders is regarded as above all others to Lions fans? He’s provided the only good memories in the last twenty years for this team. 1997 was a magical year for the running back. He put himself at the head of the class when they talk about the greatest running back ever.

1. DETROIT BEATS DALLAS IN PLAYOFFS
This wasn’t just another playoff game. It was the blossoming of two young teams that were going to dominate the 90’s. The Cowboys with their future Hall of fame triplets in Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin got crushed by the Lions in front of the whole world. For an all too brief moment, the Lions were great.
